Debate Participation Agreement

deb8tly is a service operated by Äctvli Responsible Consulting Oy ("ÄRC"), a company registered in Finland. This agreement applies to all participants who accept a debate nomination on deb8tly. By accepting a debate, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Public Nature of Debate

You acknowledge that the debate you are agreeing to participate in is a public event. The debate topic, your identity as a participant, and all statements made during the debate will be publicly visible on the deb8tly platform and may be shared or referenced by third parties. You should not share any information during the debate that you are not comfortable being made public.

2. Recording & Streaming Consent

You consent to the debate being live-streamed and recorded in audio and video format. You grant deb8tly permission to record, broadcast, and archive the debate for viewing by the public. You understand that once the debate is streamed or recorded, it may not be possible to fully remove it from all platforms or caches.

3. Content Licensing

By participating in the debate, you grant Äctvli Responsible Consulting Oy (operating as deb8tly) a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, distribute, display, and create derivative works from the debate content (including your likeness, voice, and statements) for purposes including but not limited to promotion, education, and archiving. You retain ownership of your original ideas and statements.

4. Commitment & Attendance

By accepting a debate nomination, you make a binding commitment to participate in the scheduled debate. Declining a nomination carries no penalty. However, once you have accepted, you are expected to attend and participate on the scheduled date. Withdrawal after acceptance or failure to appear ("no-show") carries consequences as outlined in this agreement.

5. No-Show & Withdrawal Policy

If you withdraw before the debate day, any earned acceptance bonuses are forfeited and a late decline is recorded on your public profile. If crowdfunding has been completed at the time of withdrawal, your opponent may receive partial compensation at deb8tly's discretion. If you fail to appear on debate day (no-show), all pending payments for the debate are forfeited (including base fee, bonuses, and revenue share), a "No-Show" flag is placed on your public profile for 12 months, and you are barred from accepting new debates for 90 days. Your opponent receives their full base fee as scheduled. If the debate cannot be rescheduled, backer pledges are refunded.

6. Compensation

All debater payments — including base fees, acceptance bonuses, performance bonuses, and revenue share — are made after the debate is completed. No money is disbursed to debaters before the debate takes place. Base fees and acceptance bonuses are paid within 7 days of debate completion. Performance bonuses are paid monthly, 30 days after the qualifying metric is achieved. Revenue share is paid quarterly. Payment never affects debate rules, speaking time, moderation, or outcomes.

7. Liability Waiver

You participate in this debate at your own risk. You release and hold harmless Äctvli Responsible Consulting Oy (operating as deb8tly), its founders, employees, and affiliates from any and all claims, damages, losses, or liabilities arising from or related to your participation in the debate, including but not limited to reputational harm, emotional distress, or disputes with other participants. This waiver applies to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

8. Rules & Conduct

You agree to follow the debate format, time limits, and moderation rules as established by deb8tly for this debate. You agree to engage in good faith, avoid personal attacks, and comply with instructions from the moderator. deb8tly reserves the right to mute, remove, or disqualify any participant who violates these rules. Repeated violations may result in a permanent ban from the platform.

9. Defamation & Personal Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the statements you make during the debate. deb8tly does not endorse, verify, or assume liability for any claims, opinions, or assertions made by participants. If your statements are found to be defamatory, misleading, or otherwise unlawful, you accept full legal responsibility. deb8tly may cooperate with legal authorities if required.
